Selection Process for Junior Translator (Hindi)

For the post of Junior Translator (Hindi), the Single Stage CBT will be followed by a qualifying Translation Test.

CBT Structure: The Question Paper will be designed to test equally both the knowledge of English language as well as knowledge of Hindi language. At least 50% of the questions will be designed to test language proficiency (20% for English and 30% for Hindi). The remaining questions will be designed to test General Knowledge, General Intelligence, Simple Arithmetic, and basics of computers.

Translation Test (TT): Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the Translation Test based on CBT merit. This test is qualifying in nature, and the qualifying pass mark is 60%. The final merit list will be based on marks obtained in the CBT alone, provided the candidate qualifies in the Translation Test. Those who do not qualify in the translation test will not be considered for selection.

2. Document Verification (DV): Based on the performance in the CBT (and qualification in the Translation Test where applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification. In case of two or more candidates securing the same marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria (older person at higher merit).

3. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass the requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure they are medically fit to carry out the duties of the opted post.
